Kiddie Koncierge: de Young Doing & Viewing Art
Doing and Viewing Art
de Young

Saturdays 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 noon (general public)
and 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. (museum members only)
Doing and Viewing Art/Big Kids/Little Kids at the
DeYoung Museum, San Francisco FREE-ish

“Free-ish” means that  the programs are free  with admission
and kids under 12 get in free with a paid adult admission.  Still, it
is a great deal.  The new De Young is an amazing facility.  The
collections are outstanding and the building itself is part of the
collection.  The programs are great.  The kids meet in one of the
classrooms off of the main lobby (just across from the tower
elevators), they are introduced to the exhibit/project, turned over to
a docent who shows the kids the exhibit, asks them questions,
and truly engages the kids in the work and certain key elements
of the works.  Then they go back and are lead through an art
project that incorporates those concepts and elements by
professional artists and teachers.  For a schedule and
information, please e-mail elewmorris@famsf.org or call 415-
750-3658.  Like the SF MOMA, kids under 12 are free as we
mentioned above, the first Tuesday of the month is FREE, and
your De Young ticket gets you FREE admission to the Legion of
Honor at Land’s End.  If you go to the Legion of Honor, by the
way, go for a walk on the paths through the golf course to take in
the BEST view of the Golden Gate and explore the trails in the
area.

Also worth checking out in the area:  The California Academy of
Sciences and the Koret Playground.
