Kids'/Parents' Night Out Special

Kids’/Parents’ Night Out
At wits end?  Need to check that drivers license to remnd yourself
that you are an adult?  Need a break....NOW?  We have come up
with a few Night Out resources to help you and your partner to
remember that there is life outside of the playroom.  These Nights
Out vary widely in terms of cost, activities, amenities (like meals),
etc., so while some are little more than baby sitting, others can be
an activity-filled evening that is fun for the kids.  Still, at $30-$39 for
four hours, you will not find a better deal from a sitter.  One other
note:  a lot of these resources are East Bay  heavy, but tuck this
info away because this might come in handy should you visit your
friends on this end of the bridge.  Could be a fun alternative.

East Bay
Dig’s Bistro Parents Night Out - Berkeley
Date:  First Monday of Every Month
Hours:  5:30 – 9:00 p.m.
Ages:  not specified, although they do ask that if your child is 2 or
younger that you sit with your child at your table.
Cost:
$10 first child, $5 for each additional child, dinner included.
Location:  1453 Dwight Way at Sacramento, Berkeley (510) 548-
2322
Information is at http://www.digsbistro.com/events/events.htm

Birthday Parties:  I'm sure you could arrange it, but not really
appropriate
Summer Camp:  Um, No.

First off, Dig’s is a great restaurant, kids or no.  Heavy on the local
and organic, the menu is always tasty and well-prepared.  The kids
are escorted to a separate dining room for supervised activities
and a meal while the parents get to enjoy some grown up time
nearby.  Unlike the other Nights Out programs listed here,
however, this is not a drop off situation.  You are dining in the room
next door.  Still at $10, this is a bargain for a great restaurant
especially considering that we have paid $15 for a plate of pasta
and cheese elsewhere.    Reservations are suggested.

Head Over Heels Gymnastics - Emeryville
Date:  Every Friday

There is a $5 extra charge if you register after noon on a Friday for
that evening.

Head Over Heels Gymnastics is a great place in general.  Our
child takes gymnastics classes there that work on balance,
tumbling, etc.  But if your child is more serious about gymnastics
and wants to get professional training, HOH has excellent facilities
for them too.  HOH also has a circus school, so if you kid loves
gymnastics or the circus arts, this is a place to consider.  Our kid is
not (yet), but he still loves it.  Advanced reservations are
recommended as there is a 20 child maximum.  Info and
registration is here
http://www.hohgymnastics.com/pages/page.
php?pageid=26 or you can call (510) 655-1265.

I have mentioned this event before and I know that teen events are
a bit out of the target demographic for Kiddie Koncierge, but many
of our subscribers have teen children or friends who do.  Since this
is such a cool opportunity, I thought I would include it.  Target Teen
night is a program co-sponsored by the Berkeley Rep Teen
Council.  Teen Night is an opportunity for teens in the Bay Area to
attend the Friday preview of EACH play at the Rep, have dinner,
and participate in a behind-the-scenes workshop prior to the
performance at a BARGAIN price.  More info on this event and other
Teen Council events can be found here:
 http://www.berkeleyrep.
org/school/teencouncil_events.asp or call 510.647.2974 or e-
mail
teencouncil@berkeleyrep.org.

If your kid is remotely inclined towards theater, they should
consider joining the teen council.  They meet once a month (1st
Wednesday of each month) at the Berkeley Re School of Theater.
Meetings include talks with Berkeley Rep professional staff, actors,
designers, guests from current shows, etc.

with helmets and harnesses (that the instructors check, by the
way) and then let loose for supervised bouldering and top roping.

anything, a slice of pizza is placed into their hands.  They are not let
out again with greasy hands.

bring PJs and a blanket for movie time.  Registration and payment
