Upcoming Subscription Events
It has only taken us a few years to figure this out, but not everyone
flies by the seat of their pants and occasionally, some like to plan.
So, we have gathered up the family programs from the top venues
around town. In some cases, tickets are available only on
subscription, for others, individual tickets are now available.
Cal Performances
Cal Performances never fails to have a great season of highly
engaging entertainment and enrichment events. Beyond music,
dance, drama, and other entertainment, Cal Performances
features great speakers, and other events. Most interesting is that
they have a School Time series where K-12 classes can see
special performances with presentations by some of the
principals for $8 a head. It is a truly special program and should
not be missed.
The Family Fare series is a wonderful way to catch top talent at a
reasonable price. Kids under 16 get in for half price on Family
Fare Performances. Cal Performances also is launching a series
called First Stage for Families with another slate of great
performances. Cal Performances' new First Stage For Families
for Families Series is the ideal introduction to the magical world of
music, dance, and theater! First Stage For Families for Families
features lively one-hour events in Wheeler Auditorium, offering
young people and their grownups an opportunity to experience a
diverse range of artistry in an intimate space.

Circus Oz
Fourth fantastic visit to Berkeley! Get set for the beautiful and the
absurd, the breathtakingly brilliant, and the downright kooky as
Australia's Circus Oz fills the Zellerbach stage with their renowned
brand of collective mayhem. Stunt-jumping acrobats contest
physics, fearless aerial artists laugh at gravity, slapstick
knockabouts descend into chaos, and live onstage musicians
rock the house! Each show—like every Circus Oz performance
over the past 34 years—is a one-of-a-kind wonder. "With a raw,
upbeat energy and lovely spirit" (Sunday Telegraph), it's a great
show for the whole family!

San Francisco Opera: The Secret Garden
Cal Performances' second major collaboration with San
Francisco Opera—audiences still fondly recall Rachel Portman's
The Little Prince from 2008—promises beautiful music and a
wonderful story for young and old. A pampered girl born into
privilege finds herself alone in a bleak and unfamiliar land, until
she discovers the hidden wonder of an abandoned secret garden.
Unexpected friendships and a new life blossom as she makes
the garden flourish. Here is a unique opportunity for audiences of
all ages to see Frances Hodgson Burnett's beloved children's
classic come to life as a fully staged opera.

Les 7 Doigts de la Main Circus
Canada's phenomenal nouveau cirque troupe blends such
diverse forms as acrobatics, avant-garde dance, physical comedy,
music, song, video projections, and live DJing, resulting in a
brand-new type of circus entertainment. For their fourth creation,
Les 7 Doigts delves into the rich and surreal underworld of the
human psyche. A dazzling production, PSY travels through a
shifting landscape of wildly entertaining distorted visions, fading
dreams, and fractured memories. "You'll be totally bowled over
and never want it to end," raves London's TimeOut. "You'll be
moved emotionally at least as often as you're just flat-out
astounded."
